A candidate who has been retired from competition, as determined by the Board of Directors, for 3 or more years on the date of the induction ceremony is eligible to be inducted that year.
If the individual continues to enter “recreational or fun” events after retirement, this should not be considered against their time of retirement. The determination of what is “recreational or fun” is a Board decision.
Once an athlete has finished competing in their respective sport for more than 10 years, they then become eligible to be nominated in the Athlete-Legend category.
To be considered as a Builder, an individual must have spent a significant amount of their "building time" in Lakeshore. The determination of what is a "significant amount of building time" is a board decision.
For an individual to be considered as a Builder, who has not had significant building time in Lakeshore but has achieved success at a level outside of Lakeshore, that individual may be considered for induction if their formative years of building were in Lakeshore. The determination of what is "building time in formative years" is a board decision.
This class is open to a team, volunteer, executive, sponsor, group, or individual that contributes or has contributed to the success of a sport in Lakeshore.
A Lakeshore-based team that has excelled at a higher level as determined by the Board of directors may be considered for induction.
Anyone who has distinguished themselves in one of the 4 categories above is eligible provided they are identified within a community of Lakeshore.
The committee chairperson shall inform the nominator if a candidate has not been accepted and may encourage them to reapply for another year.
