ATHLETE - MODERN

A candidate who has been retired from competition, as determined by the Board of Directors, for 3 or more years on the date of the induction ceremony is eligible to be inducted that year.

  • Competed within the last 10 years.
  • Must be retired from the highest level of competition for at least 3 years.

If the individual continues to enter “recreational or fun” events after retirement, this should not be considered against their time of retirement. The determination of what is “recreational or fun” is a Board decision.

ATHLETE - Legend

Once an athlete has finished competing in their respective sport for more than 10 years, they then become eligible to be nominated in the Athlete-Legend category.

Builder

To be considered as a Builder, an individual must have spent a significant amount of their "building time" in Lakeshore. The determination of what is a "significant amount of building time" is a board decision.

  • Coach
  • Administrator
  • Founder

For an individual to be considered as a Builder, who has not had significant building time in Lakeshore but has achieved success at a level outside of Lakeshore, that individual may be considered for induction if their formative years of building were in Lakeshore. The determination of what is "building time in formative years" is a board decision.

OPen Class

This class is open to a team, volunteer, executive, sponsor, group, or individual that contributes or has contributed to the success of a sport in Lakeshore.

A Lakeshore-based team that has excelled at a higher level as determined by the Board of directors may be considered for induction.

Eligibility Criteria

Anyone who has distinguished themselves in one of the 4 categories above is eligible provided they are identified within a community of Lakeshore.

The committee chairperson shall inform the nominator if a candidate has not been accepted and may encourage them to reapply for another year.

  • An individual can only be nominated in one category in any one year.
  • Once a candidate is inducted in one category, they cannot be inducted in a second category.
  • Members of the Board of Directors are eligible for induction provided all conflict of interest guidelines are followed.
  • When the board is reviewing a candidate with the information provided by the nominator, more information may become available from other sources that will be taken into consideration.
  • There is a maximum of one inductee in each category.
